And we obviously need good quality air to remain healthy. If any of these are compromised, our health will falter, or at very least be affected. We are constantly being advised to eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day, and take regular exercise.
All good advice. And even if we don’t
always take that advice, we know it makes perfect sense for
a
happy, and healthier life.
A good varied diet is best for most people to enjoy a
healthy
lifestyle. Though we also know, that allergies and food
intolerances exist for some.
In contrast to eating healthy all the time, traditional
Chinese
medicine has the knowledge of which foods make us ill, or
better. An example would be natural yoghurt, or cucumber to
cool
down a stomach ache caused by internal heat.
Garlic and Onions however, are hot in nature, and can be used to expel a chill from the body. Western medicine and ancient home remedies, have known about these for centuries, as did generations of our families before us.
Unfortunately most of this information has been lost over time, but the knowledge of food energetic’s is an essential part of a healthy lifestyle, and traditional Chinese medicine. We are able pass this information to you, as part of your treatment, to help you make a speedier recovery from your ailment.
Regarding constitution, Chinese philosophers believe we are all born with a pre-determined amount of life energy, called Jing. In western language, this is the same as the health, and constitution that we are born with. It has always been my belief that we are born as an amalgam of 25%, our Mother and 25% of our Fathers Genes.
The remaining 50% is our own individuality. The level of our parents’ health, at the time of an individual’s conception can determine the level of health and well being we have for the rest of our lives.
An example of this could be, the Mother or Father has a cold at the time they conceive their child, and we think it is feasible to think we inherit some of that illness too. In this example, it could lead to weakness of the lungs. Apart from the food we consume, we are individually responsible for our own well being, by the lifestyle. If we “burn the candle at the both ends”, and live life hard and fast, the effect can be quite dramatic.
Many TV programmes have shown how the ageing effect can increase if we smoke, drink alcohol and exercise little. This emphasis the point that the Chinese believe we are born with a pre-determined amount of life force or Jing.
And through our natural lives, we slowly use up that Jing, by the natural ageing process. Although we cannot add to that amount, we can certainly hold back the effects, by living a healthy, well balanced life. Good food, exercise, plenty of fluid and good fresh air.
